Oregano | Kitchen Tips

COOKING WITH OREGANO

Marjoram and oregano are interchangeable in cooking, but oregano is much stronger.

Oregano takes kindly to long cooking times, while marjoram is best added toward the end.

Both blend well with basil, bay, and coriander, garlic, parsley, mint, chives and thyme.

Oregano and marjoram cut down the need for salt.

Add a few leaves to pasta and pizza sauces. Stews, seafood, salad dressings, and vegetables benefit from using these herbs.

Oregano and marjoram are often the “secret” herbs in Southwestern, Middle Eastern, European and Cajun cuisines.

Almost any dish can benefit from a bit of Oregano.
